With 3 boys at home, I love to bake. We have a tradition of making Witch’s Fingers at Halloween. Even though they are teenagers now, they still look forward to this time of year.

Ingredients

For the dough

  • 400 g wheat flour
  • 200 g of Zùsto
  • A little vanilla essence
  • A little almond essence
  • 1 large egg
  • 200 g unsalted butter
  • Blanched almonds

To decorate

  • 1 beaten egg
  • Red colouring (can also be replaced by jam)
  • Cinnamon powder (for decoration)

Preparation method

  1. Bring the butter to room temperature.
  2. Mix together the Zùsto and the flour.
  3. Add the butter and egg to the flour.
  4. Mix well until the egg is fully incorporated.
  5. Add the vanilla essence and knead the dough until it is smooth.
  6. Cover the dough with cling film and leave to rest in a cool place for 30 minutes.
  7. Make balls approximately the size of a walnut.
  8. Mould the ball into the shape of a finger. Using a knife, carefully make small lines at the joints.
  9. Next, place an almond on the tip of the finger to mimic a nail.
  10. Brush each finger with a little beaten egg yolk.
  11. Heat the oven to 180 degrees and bake the biscuits for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  12. With a brush, apply a little cinnamon to the joints
  13. Using a small brush, apply the fake blood to the back of each biscuit and to the nails.

About Ann

I have been working as an executive assistant at Zùsto since April 2020.I think that not only is it a great product to use, but the company and the people who work there are also fabulous. It’s such an honour to be part of the team.

Because of them, I got to know all about Zùsto and honestly, I use it really quite regularly in the kitchen. I couldn’t live without it!
